# Pattern

> The partnership flow, a swirl pattern that adds texture and energy without competing with the content.

The partnership flow is the brand's pattern, shown here as a wide banner of
house blue swirls on Spotlight blue. Its curves interlock to show movement and
connection, the partnerships the brand is built on, and add texture without
overpowering the content.

## Colour

Each colour sets house colour curves on its spotlight colour, and keeps those
light colours in dark mode, like all brand artwork. These are portrait crops in
blue, purple, and orange.

| Market | Colour |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------- |
| Every market | Blue, the foundation |
| Music and venues | Purple, alongside blue |
| Shows, events, and sports | Orange, alongside blue |

## Layout

Crop the pattern to frame a page, set it behind content for texture, or layer
it behind and in front of a photo's subject for depth.

### Pair the pattern with a black strip

**Do**

A black strip holding the logo and tagline makes a branded header or
footer. Let the pattern bleed off the edges.

- Crop and scale it freely, as long as the curves stay whole and the flow is
  still recognisable.
- Keep critical text off its busiest parts, with enough contrast for any text
  set over it.
- Don't stretch, rotate, or angle the pattern, or change its shapes or line
  weights.
- Don't use colours outside the brand palette, or let it overpower the key
  content.

## In Roadie

- Build the pattern with the [Pattern](https://ticketsolutionsptyltd.github.io/roadie/components/pattern.md) component. Its
`crop` lines the artwork up with an edge, and its `tone` picks the colour.
- Its colours are the pinned light steps 5 and 9 of the brand hue aliases, such
  as `--color-brand-blue-light-9`, on [Color scales](https://ticketsolutionsptyltd.github.io/roadie/tokens/color-scales.md).
